Understand Cold Water Diving

Canada’s waters are beautiful — but often cold.

Cold water diving means:

  • You’ll wear a thicker wetsuit or drysuit

  • You may need specialty gear like cold-water regulators

  • Visibility can be stunning (especially in lakes or BC coastal dives!)

Don't worry — we have gear guides, tips, and product breakdowns to help you stay warm, safe, and confident.

Choose a Beginner-Friendly Dive Site

Some of the best Canadian beginner sites include:

  • Porteau Cove, BC – Easy beach access, sunken ships, tons of marine life

  • Crawford Lake, ON – A shallow, easy lake for skill-building

  • Dutch Lake, AB – Calm, scenic, and often used for training dives

  • The Gaskin (Tobermory, ON) – A shallow wreck dive in clear water
